Who They Are
Humphreys Street is a social enterprise of their parent nonprofit, Harvest Hands CDC located in South Nashville, TN that empowers youth through student employment at their local coffee shop and roastery/soap kitchen. Humphreys Street was started to encourage local leaders by creating jobs, providing mentorship, and teaching skills like customer service, marketing, and craftsmanship.
Our Goals Together
- To create a clean, minimalist brand and packaging design that spoke to the history of the nonprofit but would allow the students to be the spotlight of the brand story.
- To design a look that is light and simple to replicate the cleanliness of the handmade soaps and the small-batch roasted coffee.
- To design a logo inspired by the old church built in 1929 that housed the roastery, soap kitchen, and after-school programming for 10 years. The building itself was gifted to the nonprofit in 2008 and symbolizes the start of its humble, successful journey. The brick structure with identifiable but simple architecture was an incredible analogy of how the nonprofit acts as a cornerstone in the community. The icon element used is an illustration of that same building which is currently the location of the coffee shop as of July 2018.
