Who They Are
Raise the Roof Academy is an international nonprofit with its local office in Nashville, TN. They provide a free, high-quality education to children born in rural Uganda who, due to poverty and social pressures, would otherwise be cut off from the promise of education. They originally sought out to build a single roof of a one-room school in the community, hence the nonprofit’s namesake, but the academy has since grown to a 1,300 student, multi-faceted community development initiative with onsite boarding for students, community clinic, and vocational skills training.
